Help! My Lenovo Yoga Pro 9 Won’t Use the Dedicated GPU – What Am I Missing?

Hey everyone! I recently got a Lenovo Yoga Pro 9 to fix some BSOD issues, but I've noticed a frustrating problem: the dedicated Nvidia 4060 GPU doesn't seem to be utilized at all. Despite showing up in Device Manager and Task Manager, it's always at 0% usage. During my testing, only the Intel Arc integrated GPU gets used.

I've tried checking the BIOS, but there were no options to force the system to use the 4060 like there are on Legion models. I also attempted changing settings in Lenovo Vantage and the Nvidia Control Panel but didn't have any luck. I even disabled the Intel GPU, which just caused a virtual adapter to pop up. I can try to set specific applications to use the Nvidia card, but the customer doesn't have any CAD software installed yet, which is primarily why they purchased this laptop.

I did install the Nvidia studio driver since it's not going to be used for gaming, but I wonder if that might be causing the issue. I've read some mention the 4060 doesn't have a power sensor, causing it to show 0% usage. So, could it still be working even if it reports that way? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

You might want to try the Intel Graphics Software and profiles. Sometimes, that can help manage how the GPUs are utilized better. Let me know how that goes!

Thanks, I’ll definitely try that next week when I'm back in the shop!

Have you checked for any dump files related to the BSODs? Those logs can be super helpful for diagnosing issues. You can find them in C:WindowsMinidump. If you can grab those and upload them somewhere like catbox or mediafire, it could give more insights!
