I've recently started experiencing some unusual brownouts and blackouts where I live, so I decided to get a UPS to protect my new 5090 setup and ensure my data stays safe. My PSU has a rating of 1500 watts, but I calculated that I shouldn't exceed 1000 watts in my usage. However, when I tried turning it on, I noticed a spike in voltage (ranging from 113 to 190) for a moment, along with a sound that resembled an electrical pop. Currently, my load is stable at around 125 watts, but I'm concerned that 1000 watts might not be sufficient for the initial power draw. Can anyone provide some advice or recommendations on this?

You're correct; sizing a UPS to just 2/3 of your PSU's rating isn't the best approach. Your 5090 rig is likely capable of drawing a significant spike when you power it up, which can exceed 1000 watts.
So, what size UPS do you suggest? Should I aim for at least 1500 watts, or even go higher like 1980?
