I have a prebuilt PC that's a few years old, and it's starting to struggle with modern games like Claire Obscure and Oblivion Remastered. My current specs include a Radeon RX 590 graphics card and a Ryzen 7 2700X processor, paired with a Gigabyte B450M DS3H motherboard. I'm thinking of upgrading to a Radeon 5700 graphics card and a Ryzen 5700 processor since they're fairly priced and compatible with my motherboard. Does this upgrade make sense? I'm specifically looking to know if either a) it won't work at all or b) if there are better options I might not be considering. Thanks in advance!

Right now, the best deal for an AM4 CPU is the Ryzen 5800X for around $133 on Amazon. It's a great value pick if you can stretch your budget a bit.
Before making any decisions, what's your total budget for the upgrades? That could really impact your choices!
If you're looking for a solid GPU, consider getting a Radeon 6900 XT; it's a powerhouse for gaming.
What motherboard would I need to support that? I'm trying to keep it compatible with what I have.
For CPU upgrades, you might want to go with the Ryzen 5700X instead of the non-X version—it performs much better in gaming. If you want to save a bit, the Ryzen 5600 or 5600X could be good alternatives too. As for the GPU, that will depend on how much you want to spend inside your budget.
My max budget is $600, but I'd like to keep it lower if possible.
