Hey folks! I just got my hands on a new RTX 5070 GPU and while I was installing it, I realized I'm short on one power cable. I have a 6-pin to 8-pin cable that I thought I could use for the GPU's 12-pin to 2x8-pin adapter. Is that a good idea, or does it pose any risk of damaging my GPU? Just to clarify, I've got one 8-pin cable connected from my PSU to one of the 8 female pins on the GPU, but I'm missing the second cable. Can I safely use the 6-pin to 8-pin adapter from my PSU to that other 8-pin slot? Thanks!

Yeah, you could still try the 6-pin to 8-pin adapter, but be cautious. Just running off one power connector can be risky for power delivery. Ideally, you want both slots filled for stability. If your PSU offers a better solution, definitely go with that instead.
Using just one of the 8-pin connectors might not provide enough power to your GPU, which could lead to performance issues or even failure to boot sometimes. It's generally a good practice to have both 8-pin connectors plugged in for optimal performance. If your PSU supports it, consider getting a direct 12vhpwr cable that connects straight to your GPU. What brand and model is your PSU?
