Should I stick with the AMD 760M or invest in a graphics card?

Hey everyone! I'm considering whether to go with the AMD 760M instead of getting a dedicated graphics card. My main use will be Linux for software development, self-hosting, and some casual gaming. I've seen some gameplay of Minecraft running on this iGPU and it impressed me. However, I'm curious if I can expect that same performance. I'm also a little concerned about its limited core count, though I've heard that the cores it has are quite powerful. Ideally, I'd like benchmarks that show it outperformed the 8-core M1. Here's my setup list if you're interested: [PCPartPicker Part List](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VLtZHW).

I really think you should grab at least a budget GPU. The RX 580 is a solid option that goes for around $50-70 on the used market, and it still performs well in many games. If you can stretch your budget, maybe look at the 1660 Super or even a 2070 for more power. Trust me, it's worth it for a smoother experience, especially outside of just Minecraft.

I’d lean toward getting a 5700XT or a 6600 instead. They both offer better value and support for modern games without being too pricy in that range.

Are those upgrades really necessary for just Minecraft? I'm aiming for around 16-20 chunks - how does the performance of the 580 or 1660 compare to the M1?

Honestly, the AMD 760M will do fine for basic tasks and some light gaming, especially if you're not diving into heavy titles. If you don't mind sacrificing some graphics quality, it's a decent choice for what you plan on doing. But if you think gaming will be a bigger part of your setup, consider a Ryzen 7 for more cores or a cheaper used GPU if you're just after some casual gaming.
