I'm trying to figure out whether to upgrade my existing AM4 setup or jump to a brand new AM5 build. My current PC is mainly used for 1080p gaming and streaming, and here are my specs:
- Ryzen 5 5600x
- Gigabyte B450M DS3H V2
- NVIDIA RTX 3060 12GB OC
- 32GB 3200mhz RAM
- 750W PSU
I plan to upgrade to either a 5070ti or 9070xt for 1440p 144hz+ gaming while streaming at 1080p 60fps. I initially thought AM5 would be the way to go for future-proofing, but I'm also considering upgrading my CPU to a 5950x or 5700x3d, which would save me from having to buy a new motherboard and RAM. Would the AM4 5950x or 5700x3d be a good match with the new GPUs, or should I still go for an entry-level AM5 CPU like the 7600x, 9600x, or 7700x?

I just decided to upgrade my whole setup to a Ryzen 7 9800x3d, new motherboard, and PSU, along with 32GB of DDR5 RAM. I'm planning to upgrade my graphics card in a couple of months. Should be exciting!
I think you should go for the GPU first, like the 5070 Ti or 9070XT. After that, you can grab a 5700x3d for a nice balanced setup.
That's a serious upgrade! I wish I could afford that kind of setup, but mine's tight on the budget. Enjoy your new gear!
