I'm looking to upgrade my setup with a new GPU and currently have a 34" ultrawide monitor that supports 165Hz with a resolution of 3440x1440. I'm wondering if the 5070 would be a solid choice for my needs, given that it's within my budget right now.

Just make sure you're looking for a GPU with at least 16GB of VRAM. That’ll help you future-proof your setup a bit more and ensure smoother gameplay, especially at higher resolutions like yours.

The 5070 should work fine for now, especially if you're not playing the latest and greatest titles at max settings. However, you might notice it struggles in a year or two as game requirements go up. If you can wait and keep an eye out for deals, aim for something like the 5070TI or 9070XT instead. It might make a significant difference in performance.

I get that saving can be tough! Can you explain more about why the 5070TI is worth the extra cash?

The 5070 is a decent entry-level option, but it might struggle with some of the more demanding games at ultra settings on your ultrawide monitor. If you can swing it, consider saving a little more for the 5070 TI or even the 9070XT, which would give you better performance in the long run.
