Is it Safe to Turn Off Hibernation on Laptops?

I've been dealing with a blank screen issue that seems to be spreading across our laptops since the 24h2 update, and I've noticed that disabling hibernation appears to help (fingers crossed!). Previously, we had fast startup disabled in our system image, but hibernation was still on. Before I make this adjustment to our image, I want to make sure there aren't any potential problems, especially for users who might let their laptops completely drain while they're sleeping. Any thoughts?

We've been disabling hibernation in our deployment scripts for a few years now, and honestly, we haven't run into any issues or complaints about it.

I personally turn hibernation off on all my devices. No problems here, plus it actually saves some disk space.

That's an interesting point about the lid settings. We had a similar situation where everyone assumed it was related to hibernation, but it turned out to be a power state setting when the lid is closed.

Yeah, we had that happen on some desktops too. We typically set things to lock the user and turn off the display after inactivity, but it still affected a user we exempted from that.

I say ditch hibernation! I've kept it off in my images for over a decade. About that blank screen issue—I've only found success by rolling back to an old version of the Intel UHD drivers.

It's wild trying to find what causes these issues. We've seen different hardware combinations struggle, even with Nvidia GPUs and AMD CPUs involved.
