I've had my Alienware Aurora R12 for about three years now, and it's been acting up more often lately. Initially, I was able to enjoy games on high settings with over 144 FPS, but now I'm struggling to keep games like League of Legends and Elden Ring running smoothly, often dipping as low as 20 FPS. I've already done a fresh install of Windows but am still facing these performance issues. I suspect that my RAM might be holding things back. Can anyone provide insights on whether I should start upgrading parts or just bite the bullet and build a new PC?

If your model is indeed the Aurora R12, keep in mind that it has non-standard parts, which can make upgrading a hassle. You might be better off building a new rig instead of trying to swap out parts. It's worth weighing your options for a fresh start versus just upgrading certain components.
Before you consider upgrading, I’d suggest doing a virus scan and making sure your drivers are all up to date. A fresh Windows install can help too, but I wouldn't rush into buying new parts just yet. It sounds like you might be running single-channel RAM, which indeed can limit performance but it’s not the only factor.
I have already done those things, and I just reinstalled Windows 11 with minimal improvement.
Yeah, I realized I typed the model in my post but it might not have been clear. Thanks for confirming that!
