Hey everyone! I'm heading off to university soon and wanted to know if I could use my mom's old MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2011) for taking notes. I'm not very familiar with MacBooks, so I hope I don't ask anything too silly. I've updated it to the latest software it can handle, and I've checked that the time, date, and region settings are correct. It says it's connected to WiFi, but I can't open the App Store to download a note-taking app. When I tried to set up my Apple ID and FaceTime, I got a message saying it's not connected to the internet. My phone and another laptop connect fine to the same WiFi, so I'm not sure what's up. Can anyone help me figure out if I can get this MacBook to work for notes, or should I just look for something newer?

It looks like your MacBook is running an older version of macOS, probably High Sierra (10.13) was the last official update it received, which might make it hard to use newer apps. You could technically use a patcher to try and get a newer macOS version, but there are downsides to that. It might be worth considering if you're willing to put up with those potential issues.
Ohh I see. So what would you suggest? Should I try the patch or just give up on it?
