Hey everyone, I dropped my iPhone 16 Pro Max in the river last weekend, and since I have AppleCare+ with lost and stolen coverage, I thought I was covered. I figured I'd just pay the $150 deductible and lose a few photos. But today I found out that my claim was denied because Find My device wasn't turned on. I had no clue it had to be on for the coverage to be valid. I thought sharing my location with my wife meant it was active, but apparently, there's a separate setting for that. This all feels really scammy to me, especially since I've been paying about $17 a month for this insurance. What can I do now?

I get where you’re coming from, but it’s not exactly scammy. Apple does state that Find My needs to be enabled when you file a claim. It’s on the claim page and also mentioned in the plan details. It's crucial to have it on for coverage to apply, so it’s worth double-checking that info.
I get that it’s there, but it feels like an oversight, right? When I got my coverage, the rep didn’t make it clear that it must always be on. You'd think they’d send reminders about important settings like that!
