Hey everyone! I'm in the process of building a high-end PC mainly for gaming, game development (using Unity/Unreal), and video editing. Here's my current parts list:
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 9800X3D
- **CPU Cooler:** Dark Rock Pro 5
- **Motherboard:** GIGABYTE X870E AORUS ELITE WIFI7
- **GPU:** ZOTAC SOLID OC RTX 5090
- **RAM:** Kingston FURY 64 GB DDR5-6000 (2x 32 GB)
- **PSU:** Be Quiet! Straight Power 1200W
- **Case:** Be Quiet! Silent Base 802 Window
- **Storage:** Samsung 990 Pro 2TB SSD + 500GB Samsung 860 Evo (from my old PC) + 4TB + 1TB WD Blue HDD (also from my old PC)
I'm really keen on ensuring I make the best choices possible, so would you recommend swapping any components? Any feedback or suggestions would be super helpful! Thanks! 🙏

You’ve got a solid build, but I’d recommend fully transitioning to SSDs, or at least NVMe ones, instead of keeping those hard drives. They’re much faster for game load times and overall performance. Storing things on an SSD just makes your whole system feel snappier!
You might want to consider upgrading to the AMD Ryzen 9950X3D, especially since you’re using your PC for both gaming and as a workstation. It could give you better performance overall. Since you're spending big on a GPU like the RTX 5090, the 9950 would be a solid match! Also, think about getting an Arctic Freezer III 420 AIO cooler if you can fit it in a bigger case like the Fractal Design Meshify 2XL. This cooler is highly rated and affordable!
I get that, but HDDs can still be useful for storing large archives or files that you don't access as often. It might not be worth investing in an expensive 4-5 TB NVMe SSD just to hold infrequently accessed files.
