Frustrated with Finding the Right Linux Distro?

I'm really struggling to find a Linux distro that works for me. I keep trying new ones but end up giving up due to frustrating issues. I've tested Arch with KDE and Gnome, but faced game problems in fullscreen and strange browser bugs. Nobara didn't work for me, and while I tried Endeavour, it felt like Arch but with a color twist. I found Cachy to be overly bloated and I really can't stand Debian-based distros because APT drives me nuts. Plus, installing themes seems to mess everything up. I need a good distro, preferably one with access to AUR, that won't mess up my gaming experience. I'm using GNOME on Wayland, and I'm at my wit's end!

It sounds like you're going through common growing pains with Linux! For gaming, I'd suggest giving Nobara or Bazzite a real chance. They come tailored for gamers and should help with your issues. Don't forget, getting used to a new distro takes time, so sticking with one for a bit might help you iron out these frustrations.

I’m not sure it's just user error. You’ve clearly hit some frustrating barriers, and it’s normal to feel that way. But maybe try focusing on just one distro instead of constantly switching to see if you can solve these issues.

You should definitely check out Bazzite. It’s designed for ease of use, and everything runs well out of the box! Just keep in mind, it's a bit heavier since it comes pre-packed with tools and apps, but think of it as not needing to fuss about setups anymore. Plus, you can always run an Arch Distrobox inside it to access AUR apps without messing with the primary system.

I had Bazzite break on me once because of a kernel issue, but it was an easy fix! Best part is learning all the ins and outs of Distrobox, which is a handy tool for managing different packages and settings.

Honestly, direct Fedora might be your best bet for a smooth experience. It's super stable, and though you mentioned distros based on it, you can customize it quite a bit. KDE Plasma is my favorite for its flexibility, but you can choose from various desktop environments too!

I still need AUR access though, and I’m not totally in love with Plasma. I’ll give it another shot, but I’m skeptical!

How about trying something more advanced like Gentoo or Slackware? They require some setup and learning, but they can be super rewarding. If you want to really know your system, compiling your own kernel might just give you that boost.

If you're set on using the AUR, I'd say stick with Arch and just commit to figuring it out. The Arch Wiki is a goldmine for troubleshooting, and it includes solutions for gaming issues too. Plus, the AUR opens up a lot of software options that might improve your experience.
