Help! My SSD is Not Being Detected – Any Fixes?

Hey folks, I'm having a bit of a crisis with my PC. Out of nowhere, it stopped recognizing any bootable devices. I've tried a bunch of things, like using the command line in BIOS to search for my SSD, updating my motherboard, booting from a USB drive, and even running diagnostic software from a USB. I've gone as far as draining the cooling loop, pulling out my GPU, and adding a new SSD. The system does boot with the new SSD, but my old one, which is a Corsair MP700 PRO M.2, isn't showing up in either the BIOS or Windows. I'd really prefer to avoid taking out the SSD and its cooling block since I have a custom liquid cooling setup.

Here are my specs:
- CPU: Intel i7-14700KF
- RAM: 2x16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6400MHz
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060
- MOBO: AORUS Z790 PRO X
- SSD: Corsair MP700 PRO M.2 2TB (the one causing issues)

What can I try to troubleshoot this SSD without tearing my setup apart? Do you think the drive is dead or maybe just not seated properly? Any advice would be super helpful! Thanks!

I've run into a similar issue with SSDs before. Sometimes, they just don't like being in the top slot of the motherboard. If you have multiple M.2 slots, try shifting it down one or two slots. It's worked for me every time!

Thanks for the idea! I hadn’t thought about moving it. I’ll definitely give that a shot.

Your SSD might actually be dead or improperly seated. If you do eventually need to take it out, testing it in another system would help verify its health—CrystalDiskInfo is a good tool for that. I get not wanting to disassemble everything, but it's something to consider if the problem persists!

I tried reseating it, but no luck so far. Maybe I’ll have to find a way to check it in another system.
