Hey everyone! I recently built a new PC with a 7600x CPU and an RX 6700 XT GPU, which is a huge upgrade from my old FX 8350 setup. Right now, I'm using a not-so-great 1080p VA curved monitor. As a college student, I'm trying to be mindful of my spending before the semester starts. Do you think switching to a 1440p IPS monitor would be a good upgrade, or should I hold off and save for an OLED later?

I have a 7800X3D with a 1440p 180hz monitor, and it was honestly a game changer compared to my old 1080p. You’ll love the difference in clarity while gaming!
Upgrading from 1080p to 1440p is definitely a noticeable leap. While OLED is a fantastic upgrade, it doesn't have as big an impact as moving up to 1440p. If you're watching your budget, going for the IPS monitor now makes sense. Save some cash instead of splurging on OLED!
Just going to 1440p makes a big difference in everyday use. If you're debating IPS vs OLED, remember that OLED feels more like a luxury—something for when you're financially comfortable. Don't stress about it now!
If you can stretch your budget, OLED is definitely nice—cheapest ones start around $450. But if you're concerned about cost, consider a mini LED monitor instead. I got an AOC model (starts with a Q) for about $297 that performs amazing with HDR. You might find it on sale for even less!
Keep in mind the 6700 XT is more entry-level for 1440p gaming. If you're looking for higher FPS, a good quality 1080p screen could still be a better pick for you right now!
True, my current monitor is 165hz, and I'll upgrade my GPU soon. Just grabbed the 6700 XT because it was a good deal at the time!
I get your point, but OLED really offers a much more significant improvement in contrast and depth compared to regular LCDs. You can't really compare those two jumps!
