Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my entry-level PC, which currently has 424 GB on the C drive. My primary drive is a WD Blue SN570 500 GB NVMe SSD, and I have 2 x 8GB RAM sticks in it. My motherboard supports DDR4-3200, and I've got a Core i3-12100 processor. I'm trying to figure out whether I should add an additional SSD for more storage or install 2 more RAM sticks. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Just a heads up, SSDs and RAM serve different purposes. Your SSD is for storing files long-term, while RAM is for temporarily holding data as you work on it. If you're running lots of programs simultaneously or gaming, more RAM would help. But if you're running low on storage, then definitely think about upgrading your SSD. Both upgrades are beneficial, so it depends on your immediate needs!
I'd recommend swapping out your two 8GB RAM sticks for two new 16GB DDR4-3200 sticks to maintain speed. You can also add another SSD for extra storage. Just make sure to grab a SATA cable for the new drive and check if your power supply has an extra SATA power connector. It's mostly likely, but it’s good to double-check, especially if it’s a prebuilt system!
Thanks for the tips!
If you're running out of space on your C drive, consider adding a second SSD or replacing your current one with a larger capacity. For RAM, if you have available slots, you can add more or replace your existing sticks with higher capacity ones. Just remember that SSD is for storage while RAM is for active memory, so think about what your PC needs more right now. Let me know if you have questions!
Thanks for the clarification!
Great explanation, thanks!
