I'm on the hunt for a new server monitoring tool to replace PRTG, as I haven't explored the options in ages. I've mainly stuck with whatever the previous company used, which was PRTG. I'm curious to know who the big players in the monitoring world are nowadays. Anyone have suggestions for tools that aren't overly complex like Grafana?

We recently made the switch to Zabbix after using PRTG for years. The cloud version has made my life so much easier since I don't have to worry about server upkeep anymore! Benefit of offloading maintenance is huge.
If you're looking for something different, Checkmk might be worth checking out. It's more flexible than PRTG but does come with a steeper learning curve. I've moved my business over to it and overall, it's been worth the effort.
How easy was the transition from PRTG to Checkmk for you?
Zabbix is definitely a solid choice. I've seen it recommended multiple times and while it does require some learning upfront, the community support is great and it's free!
Does it have any specific features that you particularly like?
Another good option to consider is SolarWinds. I've been using it for a while, and it certainly beats PRTG in terms of feature set and monitoring depth. It's quite user-friendly I think you'd find it worthwhile.
