How Do I Stop My AirTag from Chirping Whenever I Carry My Android Phone?

I've got a Google Pixel that I use every day and an AirTag tucked away in my backpack. It seems like the AirTag keeps chirping, and my phone won't stop buzzing with notifications about the AirTag 'following' me. Is there a way to make it stop? I also have an iPhone if that helps.

Honestly, if the AirTag is giving you so much trouble, just switch to Tiles. They work much better across different devices. I’ve been using them in a household with both iPhones and Androids, and it's been smooth sailing.

That chirping is just a feature to let you know the AirTag is in your vicinity. If you turn off notifications entirely on your Android, it might help, but then you won’t know if there’s an unknown tag around. Ideally, if the AirTag is near its owner's device, it shouldn’t make noise at all. I know folks who run into the same problem when traveling with both iPhones and Androids.

You can turn off the Unknown Tracker Alerts on your Android. Just go to Settings, then Safety and Emergency, and you should find the option there to disable it.
