Why is my new PC crashing while gaming?

Hey everyone, I recently completed my new PC build featuring an AMD 9950X3D and an RTX 5090. Unfortunately, I keep running into crashes when running 3DMark and other 3D games like Black Myth. The crashes happen right before rendering starts, and the whole system shuts off abruptly, leaving only a few LEDs on. I've updated all the drivers and BIOS, played around with various settings in the BIOS, and everything seems fine when I do a CPU profile in 3DMark and an hour-long AIDA64 stress test on the CPU and memory. I'm really stumped here! Here are my specs: * AMD Ryzen™ 9 9950X3D * ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR X870E HERO * ASUS GeForce RTX 5090 ROG ASTRAL GAMING OC * 96 GB DDR5-6600 (2x 48 GB) Corsair DIMM Dual-Kit * Fractal Design Meshify 3 XL case * ASUS ROG RYUO III 360 ARGB White Edition water cooling * be quiet! Dark Power Pro 13 1600W power supply * SAMSUNG 9100 PRO 4 TB SSD I'd love to hear any thoughts or suggestions! Thanks!

From what I’ve seen, the 9950X3D officially supports up to 5600 MHz with two sticks or 3600 MHz with four sticks. You might want to try dropping your RAM speed to 5600 and enabling EXPO to see if that stabilizes things. If that works, you could gradually increase the speed back up. Just a thought!

This could really be the reason behind the crashes!

6600 might be too ambitious for your setup. I've seen similar issues with RAM running out of spec settings.

I’d troubleshoot the RAM first. I’m also building a 9950X3D rig and have read a lot of horror stories with RAM compatibility. I'd stick with 6000 MHz CL30 for now.

Just to cover bases, try running your system with EXPO disabled first. Also, check that your GPU temperatures are not too high and ensure that the power connectors on the GPU are plugged in securely.

I've been following issues with the BeQuiet Dark Power Pro 13 series, and they sometimes have problems with high-end graphics cards. Given that your system shuts down instantly, this feels like a power supply issue. Have you checked the PSU's single/multi-rail switch? There are several threads discussing this, and I suggest looking into it before trying anything else. If adjusting that doesn't help, consider RMAing the PSU!

This was it!! Thank you so much 🙂 When I put that jumper in to set to single rail, it worked, no more crashes. Again, thank you very much, really appreciate it.
