I'm considering making the switch to Linux after October this year, but I have some questions to help me decide. I've heard that some online games, like Call of Duty and Fortnite, don't run on Linux. I don't play those, but I do enjoy games like Street Fighter 6, KOF 15 and 2002 UM, Tekken 7 and 8, Virtua Fighter 5, and Yu-Gi-Oh. Will these games work online on Linux? Also, how well does Linux run emulators like PCSX2 and Dolphin? Lastly, is the system compatible with programs like uTorrent or aTubeCatcher? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

I’m currently dual booting Linux Mint and Windows 11. I’ve had issues with Wine while trying to install League of Legends, so I just made a small partition for Windows 11. As for overall experience, Mint has been a solid choice for my daily use!
As for software, skip uTorrent; go for qBittorrent instead – it works great on Linux! You might hit some bumps with online games that use anti-cheat systems, but most others should be fine. Just do some research on compatibility for each game you play!
Good tip on the torrents! I had the same experience with online games; some run fine while others don’t, especially those by Riot.
You should definitely look into switching! Just keep in mind that Linux might not support every game natively. Use ProtonDB to check if your games like Street Fighter and Tekken will run smoothly. Most retro games should be alright since PCSX2 and Dolphin have Linux versions. Don't worry too much about emulators!
Exactly! And if you're into experimenting, you might want to run a live bootable USB of Linux Mint first to see how things work for you.
If you play mostly retro games, you'll probably be just fine! Installing Linux is as easy as finding a Linux-compatible version of your favorite emulators and trying a live boot first. In the worst-case scenario, you could always dual boot with Windows.
That sounds manageable! I'm not super tech-savvy, so would you say dual booting is easy for someone like me?
