Hey everyone! I'm having some trouble with my Seagate external hard drive. I use a SATA to USB cable (I think it's USB 2.0), and after I first connected it and formatted the drive, everything worked fine. However, after a couple of restarts, the volume keeps erasing completely. Just to give you some context, I'm using Windows 10 LTSC 2021, and the drive model is a Seagate Momentus 5400.5 with 160GB. Also, the cable I'm using is a pretty generic one. I appreciate any help, and sorry for my poor English!

From what you've described, it sounds like the drive might be failing since it's quite old. If the cable switch doesn’t do the trick, you may want to look into replacing the drive altogether.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I actually used an app to repair the drive sectors, and it fixed around 100 of them. It seems to be working fine now after restarting it several times. Also, how do I close or delete this post? Thanks again!
First things first, try using a better-quality cable. Those generic cables can cause all sorts of issues. You'd be surprised how much a dependable cable can help!
Yeah, I agree! A new cable might really make a difference. But if you can't find a nice one where you are, just make sure the connection is secure.
