I recently bought a used Z790 Dark Hero motherboard from a well-known retailer on eBay. I had to clean the pins with some alcohol to get it to recognize RAM banks 3 and 4, but overall it's working well. I'm just curious if I should keep it without a serial number since I wanted to register it for warranty reasons.

Wait, did the retailer actually remove the sticker with the serial number? On ASUS boards, it’s usually located on the 24-pin connector. That’s a bit odd.
It really depends on how much you paid for it. At $309 plus tax with free shipping, it sounds like you got a good deal. The Z790 Dark Hero is a solid board, and honestly, I don’t put much stock in Asus warranties anyway.
Definitely keep it! Just because the serial is missing doesn’t mean it isn’t a high-performing board. Just be aware that you might be missing out on warranty support.
You might be able to retrieve the serial number using HWINFO64. Just saying, if the sticker's gone, that might void the warranty. And trying to register it seems tricky since they also want a 'Check Number', which is typically on the box sleeve.
Yeah, it’s just missing with no explanation. There weren’t any pictures of that side in the listing.
