Hey everyone! I'm looking to see if anyone has made the jump from Exchange 2019 to SE. I'd love to hear your experiences with the upgrade process. Additionally, there's some confusion about the licensing—specifically, can you use an Exchange 2019 license key for SE? The info I've found isn't clear on whether new keys are required after the upgrade. If you've done this upgrade, did it ask for new keys during the process?

I've upgraded two servers to SE, and it went pretty smoothly! Since SE is basically the same code as 2019, it was just like installing a cumulative update. Just make sure your source server is fully updated first. The license key situation is a bit clearer now—your Exchange 2019 keys will work for the SE RTM since they are code identical.

From what I’ve read, the keys will likely only be required in a future release since the current version is just the same code with a different name and license agreement. So, no worries about keys for now!

No new keys are asked for during the in-place upgrade to ESE RTM. And yes, if you're setting up a new server, the Exchange 2019 key will be accepted. Just remember, this version is really a rebranded E2019 CU15, so keep that in mind for future updates.
