I've got a couple of backup computers, both Lenovo Thinkcentres, and I live in an area prone to power outages. They don't take up much power, about 100 watts together when running on a generator. I'm currently using Linux Mint on my backup machine, but I'm considering switching to EndeavourOS since it has a rolling release. With Mint, I might be two years behind the current version, and I like the idea of Endeavour being always up to date with just a quick update command when needed. Does anyone see any downsides to making this switch?

If you’re using this as a fallback machine that doesn’t get much regular use, think about going with Debian stable instead. Once it’s set up, it stays reliable for years with minimal updates. In contrast, EndeavourOS is great for a daily driver since it’s always updated, but it may require more attention when you do need it for emergencies. If the purpose of this backup is mainly for stability when you really need it, stable systems can be a better choice.
Fair point! I want the backup to work consistently without needing updates during emergencies, which is why I'm cautious about switching.
