I recently bought two 16GB RAM sticks to replace the two 4GB ones in my HP Pavilion laptop. When I installed both 16GB sticks, I ended up with a blue screen of death. I tested the 16GB RAM in the top slot, and it worked fine, but when I tried to use it in the bottom slot, the laptop crashed. I was able to get it working again by going back to one of the old 4GB sticks in the bottom slot. My laptop should support a total of 32GB, so I'm confused about why the bottom slot won't accept the 16GB stick. Any thoughts on what's going wrong?

It might be worth looking into your laptop's compatibility with the RAM sticks. Even if it supports 32GB in theory, factors like the RAM's speed and timings could be an issue. Double-check those specifications. Also, if you can boot into Windows or Safe Mode, access the C:WindowsMinidump directory to see if there are any crash logs that might give more insight into the BSOD.
What specific HP Pavilion model do you have? There can be variations in compatibility even within the same series, so knowing the exact model number can help others assist you better!
It's the HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec0017nw. I found it online to confirm.
I checked the specs and confirmed it supports 2x16GB. The speed should be correct too, so I'm unsure what’s going on.
