Need Help Choosing Between Cybersecurity and Full Stack Development

Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a pickle trying to decide on a career path. Initially, I was really interested in cybersecurity and even looked into various courses, like those from Coursera and different bootcamps. I found one promising program from a company called Infinity Labs in Israel, where they train you for seven months, and then you work with them as a cybersecurity expert. However, I realized I wouldn't have time to work while studying. So I switched gears and started learning full stack development instead, thanks to a trusted mentor recommended by a friend. This mentor has a good track record, and my friend, who used to be their student, is now a senior full stack engineer. I'm hoping to get some advice on whether I'm headed in the right direction or if I should reconsider my options. Thanks a lot for your help!

I think you're doing fine by choosing full stack development, especially with a mentor. It's important to have someone trustworthy to guide you. Just stay focused, practice a lot, and keep building your portfolio. You mentioned switching from cybersecurity—if that's still of interest later, you can always revisit it. Good luck!

Make sure to take your time learning full stack dev; it's a big field. Just having a degree isn't enough—practical experience is crucial. So, following your mentor's steps and working on real projects will really help. Don't rush your learning; it’s better to get it right!

It sounds like you've made a smart move by finding a mentor. If you're more comfortable with full stack development, I'd say dive right in! Having someone who can guide you is a huge advantage. Also, you might want to check out free resources like CS50 or The Odin Project to supplement your learning. Just keep pushing forward and don't hesitate to ask for help when you need it.
