I have an i5 12400F paired with a 5070Ti, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 750W PSU, all on a B760M D3HP DDR4 motherboard. While gaming at 1440p on low to medium settings, I'm struggling to hit over 130-140 FPS, and I'm starting to think my CPU is bottlenecking my GPU. I'm considering upgrading to either an i7 13700K or an i9 13900K—will either of these give me a noticeable FPS boost? Also, since I have an Arctic Air CPU cooler, do I need to upgrade that as well? If you've got the budget, I'd say look into the AMD 7800X3D or 7900X3D. However, if you want to stick with Intel, I wouldn't recommend the 13th gen processors. You’re better off waiting for the 14th gen, like the i5 14600K.
I was hoping to keep my motherboard since my PC is only a few months old. Why not the 13th gens, though?
