Is the 4090 Still a Good Buy for the Next Few Years?

I'm considering purchasing a used RTX 4090, as I'm finding one for the same price as a 5080. It's 2025, and I want to know if the 4090 will still be powerful enough to last me at least 3 to 5 years. I've been disappointed with the 50 series pricing and performance, and as a video editor, I really need something reliable. My current GPU was a 3070 until it died, and now I'm stuck with a GTX 1060. I'm planning to wait until December or February to see how much I need to save for a new GPU. Any thoughts on whether the 4090 is worth it?

Yeah, the 4090 will be sufficient unless you're aiming for the absolute highest frame rates at 4K. As for DLSS 4 and Multi-Frame Generation, I don't think you'll miss out on much if you opt for the 4090 instead of the 50 series.

I'm all about raw performance too, and I think I'll stick to using software like lossless scaling for any extra boosts.

A 4090 performs similarly to an overclocked 5080 but has the added advantage of more VRAM. It's a solid investment if you're looking for longevity.

Exactly! I just want to know if it'll last a few more years.

With advancements like DLSS, the 4090's usable lifespan just got extended significantly. I'm considering jumping to a 5090 just for resale value since they've dropped in price, but for performance, the 4090 will still be very strong for several years to come.

I hear you! If only I had the budget for that upgrade—my 3070 just died after 5 years, and now I have to rethink my plans.

For at least the next four years, the 4090 should hold up. The 5080 just doesn’t compare in performance. Even if they release something amazing in the future, the 4090's performance won’t be overshadowed easily.

The 4090 is currently the second fastest GPU available, and it's expected to hold its ground for a good few years. I have a 3080 Ti, and it runs all my games on high settings at 1440p without issues. The performance leap from the 3070 to the 4090 is massive, so going for the 4090 would definitely be a solid choice.

That's great to hear! I'm not really into the 'fake frames' debate either, so the raw power of the 4090 is a big plus for me.
