Is Upgrading to an RTX 5090 Worth It Without a Full Build?

I'm currently using an ROG GM700 Gaming Desktop that has an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti with 16GB. After seeing the RTX 5090 in action, I've decided that's the card I want! I'm not looking to completely overhaul my setup; my plan is to just swap out the 5070 Ti for the 5090 and possibly sell the old card. Do I just need to buy the 5090 and a new power supply, or will I need a new GPU mount too?

You’ll definitely need at least a 1000W or a 1050W PSU for the 5090. And keep in mind that the card is pretty heavy, so investing in a sag bracket or a vertical mount is a good idea.

Before you buy the 5090, I'd like to know what power supply unit (PSU) you currently have. If you're using the 5070 Ti, I assume you're running at a higher resolution, and your CPU should handle the 5090 just fine.

Your plan sounds solid! I’m also upgrading to the RTX 5090 from a 4070 Ti SUPER. Just make sure your PSU can handle enough power, ideally around 1000 watts, because the 5090 has a maximum draw of about 575 watts, plus you’ll need to support the CPU and other components.
