I'm troubleshooting my cousin's PC and running into some issues. It powers on—fans are spinning and I can access the BIOS—but it won't boot into the operating system. I replaced the motherboard because I thought that was the problem. I've tried different SSDs, but the system isn't detecting any of them, whether it's the original SSD or a spare one I have. I wanted to install a new OS, but without detecting the SSD, I can't proceed. Here are the specs:
- Motherboard: ASUS Prime B550 Plus AC-HES
- CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X 6-Core
- GPU: EVGA RTX 3060 Ti
- Memory: T Force Delta DDR4 16GB
- Storage: Sabrent Rocket 1TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey! So, if you can get into the BIOS, that suggests the PC is posting, but if it’s stuck in a boot loop, it sounds like it’s not recognizing your drive properly. Check if the BIOS is detecting the SSDs at all. Go into the Peripherals section and make sure both the M.2 and SATA ports are active. It's possible the SATA cables could be faulty if you’re using any SATA drives.
Definitely check if the SSDs are recognized in the BIOS first. If they’re not showing up at all, something might be off with the motherboard or SSD connection. Also, ensure that the BIOS is up to date—it can make a difference! Sometimes, just resetting the BIOS settings to default can help fix detection issues.
Wait, so it posts, right? That’s a good sign! Maybe the BIOS settings are off. When you look at the BIOS, do you see your SSD listed? If not, you might want to try reseating the SSD or checking the connections. It’s also worth checking if the ports are enabled in the BIOS—sometimes they can be turned off.
Thanks for the tip! I’ll check the connections and see if the SSD shows up in the BIOS.
