I'm trying to improve the performance of my PC, particularly for gaming, as I'm currently using an AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon graphics, and it's really slowing me down when loading into games like Elden Ring. I need some recommendations for a better CPU. Also, my motherboard is an HP 8906. Should I consider upgrading anything else?

Forget about those benchmark websites; they often have biases against AMD. The biggest upgrade of your CPU without getting a new motherboard would be the Ryzen 5800X3D, but keep in mind that it's nearing the end of its life cycle for upgrades.

Honestly, you might want to look at the Ryzen 7 5700G if you're sticking with AM4. If you’re open to a complete platform change, then the Ryzen 5 7600 would also be a good option. Just keep in mind that it’s not just about the CPU; sometimes, slow load times can be due to other factors like storage speed or RAM size.

If you're looking for pure gaming performance, it might be worth investing in a dedicated GPU alongside upgrading your CPU. You could go for something like a Ryzen 5 9600 or 9600X with a budget motherboard and RAM to get decent integrated graphics until you can buy a dedicated GPU.

It’s possible that your CPU isn’t the main issue here. Make sure your game is installed on a good SSD and check if your storage is nearly full. These things can cause significant load time lags too.
