I'm building a new PC using the Corsair 4000D Airflow case with an R5 7600X and a 4070 Super. I'll have three Arctic P12 120mm fans set up as intakes on the front and three exhaust fans on the top and back. I just discovered that I can fit two more 120mm fans at the bottom of the case since there's a mesh area there, but I noticed the Corsair website doesn't mention putting fans there. Are those bottom fans meant to be installed? If I should add them, would they be better as intake or exhaust? Also, I'm curious about fan configurations—I've seen setups where both top fans are exhaust, and others where the back one is exhaust and the front one is intake. What's your take on the best setup, especially with the potential addition of bottom fans?

I’ve got the same case and here's how I have it set up: 3 front intakes, 1 rear exhaust, and 2 top exhausts. I also added 2 bottom fans as intakes, and it really helps with airflow, keeping overall temperatures lower. Corsair might not highlight the bottom fans, but they definitely improve cooling if you go for them! I’d recommend using them as intakes to fetch fresh air directly into the case.
Honestly, you could get away with only having 2 fans total, one for intake and one for exhaust. All those extra fans don't really change much in terms of cooling performance unless you’re pushing for aesthetics or extreme performance. But if you do add the bottom fans, having them as intakes will likely improve your component longevity and performance. As for the top fans, having both as exhaust works well, but mixing one intake in there can help circulating air better. It depends on your specific setup!
I don't think the bottom fans are essential, but they can make a difference, especially if you're gaming or overclocking!
So you think just one front and one back would be enough? That surprises me.
