Help Needed: Feedback on My New Gaming/Work PC Build List

I'm putting together a new PC build mainly for gaming and some work, proportioning about 70% gaming and 30% productivity. I plan to game on a 1440p monitor and use work software like Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Lightroom, Excel, and ArcGIS Pro. My goal is to have this PC last for over seven years like my current setup. I'll be overclocking both the CPU and GPU to get the most performance. Here are the specs of my current PC: AMD 2700x, Asus ROG Strix 1080, 16GB DDR4 3000MHz CL15, and 2x 2TB SSDs. You can check out my old build list [here](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mHjjh7) and my new build list [here](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/H6xZHW). I'm uncertain about the power supply and storage options for handling my images, GIS projects, and games. Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated! Just a side note, I'm a fan of AMD since my 2700x has performed wonderfully over the years.

I checked out your build list, and I think you could go for the AMD 265K with the 5090 GPU combo if you want a more balanced option. Although the 9950x3d outperforms it, the 265K has some good value and can overclock nicely, which fits with your plan. Just a tip, the performance gap between the 5090 and the 5080 is significant, so if you're considering that route, definitely keep an eye on pricing!

Sounds like you've done a lot of research! Just keep in mind that Intel's upgrade path seems uncertain, so sticking with AMD might be a safer bet in the long run.

Thanks for the insights! I appreciate the heads-up about the 5090's price range; it's good to know there's that much of a difference.

I recommend you check out the Thermalright Phantom Spirit Evo for your cooling needs. It’s not only better but also cheaper than some of the top-tier options out there. However, if you want the best air cooler regardless of the price, go for the Noctua NH D15 G2. Just make sure that your cooler comes with thermal paste, as it can vary by brand.

The Noctua is legendary for a reason! You can’t go wrong there.

Great suggestion! I wasn’t sure if coolers came with thermal paste. I’ll definitely consider the Thermalright now!
