Recommendations for a Budget-Friendly Graphics Card

I've got a Samsung computer with a broken external graphics card that I need to replace. The current card is an NVIDIA GTX 1070, which is way too pricey for me at around $500. I'm looking for something much cheaper that will suit my needs for basic tasks like web browsing and watching YouTube—nothing heavy-duty.

I've gathered some details about my mainboard for compatibility: it's an Intel B150 chipset with a 450W power supply, and it can handle a max length of 275mm. It's a vertical tower model, and there's only one Upin slot. I'm not super tech-savvy, so I'd appreciate any recommendations for a compatible graphics card I can purchase online, or tips on how to find one that's budget-friendly based on the info I've got. Thanks a lot!

If it worked with a GTX 1070, you can probably use just about anything. For the cheapest options, I’d suggest looking on Facebook Marketplace or similar local sites. If you’re planning to use it for a while, consider getting something that still gets driver updates, like the NVIDIA 16xx/20xx series or AMD 5xxx series.

What kind of monitor will you be connecting it to?

Thanks for the advice! I thought the 1070 was an expensive model. The Samsung rep said there were only two compatible models with NVIDIA. I plan to buy a new monitor, but I won’t go for anything too big or fancy!

It's definitely worth getting a new monitor, especially if you're planning to upgrade the graphics card!

Consider checking out an Intel Arc B580—it’s just under $280 and should be perfect for your needs! Just make sure your power supply has an 8-pin power cable, but since you’re upgrading from a 1070, you should already have that. Good luck!

You could also look for used options like a RX 6600 XT or a 2070 Super for really low prices. Just a thought!

Since you mentioned "one Upin" on the mainboard, does that mean it’s not compatible with the 8-pin connector?

A graphics card like the 4060 or 3050 should do just fine for your needs, too. Definitely check those out!
