I've got my Switch 2 hooked up to an HDMI splitter that supports 4K and it goes out to both my 4K TV and a 1080p monitor. The problem is that even though my TV can handle 4K, it seems like the presence of the 1080p monitor is limiting my Switch's output to 1080p only. I ran a test by disconnecting the HDMI from the monitor, and that's when I got 4K output available. I think my monitor should be able to downscale a 4K signal since that's generally how it works, but I'm wondering if there's a way to spoof the resolution for the monitor or if there's a device that can change the signal to make this work. Any tips?

Have you checked if your monitor actually supports 4K downscaling? It's not a feature that many have. You might want to consider getting a dedicated downscaling splitter for handling 4K signals better. Alternatively, upgrading to a 4K monitor could save you some hassle in the long run!
Keep in mind that splitters will only output the lowest resolution among all connected devices. If your splitter is connected to both your 4K TV and the 1080p monitor, the resolution will max out at 1080p. You have a couple of options: one is to get a splitter that allows you to select which output is active at any given time, so the Switch can output 4K when only connected to the TV. The other option is to look into a splitter that can downscale the 4K signal for your monitor while still outputting in 4K to your TV. There's a few models out there that can do this!
