Is VMware Tanzu Essentially Dead?

I'm looking for some insights about the state of VMware Tanzu and its relation to Kubernetes. I noticed that on Tanzu's marketing site, Kubernetes is hardly mentioned—aside from the FAQ. Most of the content showcases Cloud Foundry CLI instead. It's been said that Tanzu/Kubernetes is basically dead, which raises a few questions for me:

- Has VMware quietly discontinued it?
- Is it just sitting unused?
- Are they still promoting Kubernetes somehow?

From the FAQ, it seems like their Kubernetes offerings have shifted to the VCF division of Broadcom, while the Tanzu Division now focuses more on private cloud solutions and app frameworks. Any thoughts on what's really going on?

Honestly, what does VMware even do anymore? They seem to create overpriced versions of open-source software and then push support plans. My company is transitioning away from them, and we're actually saving money and time doing it.

Are you switching to a different vendor or just going for a more basic setup?

Tanzu has always felt more like a brand than a concrete product. The constant rebranding and confusing direction have made it hard to follow. Initially, they had different versions like TKGm, TKGs, and TKGi, but none seemed to really take off. Currently, they're focusing on the vSphere Kubernetes Service (VKS), which is just a rebranded product for existing VMware Cloud Foundation customers. Outside of that niche, it doesn’t really hold any significance.
