How can I download an app I previously purchased but is no longer available in the App Store?

I deleted an app called Chunky from my Mac and want to reinstall it. Normally, I thought I could find it under "My Purchases," but even though I have the receipt, I can't locate it there. What steps can I take to get this app back?

Once an app gets pulled from the App Store, downloading it again isn't an option anymore. While iTunes used to save a copy of the .ipa file if you backed it up, you'd need to jailbreak to restore it on your phone, and that might not be the best route.

Unfortunately, if an app is removed from the App Store, you can't redownload it. It should show up in your purchases, but that doesn't always mean you can actually get it back. You might want to reach out to the developer, but if they haven't been active in a while, that could be tough too. Any backups lying around?

Really? I thought it was possible to get it back if you had bought it before. Wasn't that a thing once?

Yeah, I think the developer hasn't done anything in years. Not sure if they’re even still around.
