Should I Upgrade Just My GPU or Everything Except It?

Hey everyone! I'm a bit unsure about the best way to upgrade my PC. Currently, I have a Ryzen 5600x, a 3060ti FE, 32GB of 3600MHz DDR4 RAM, an MSI B450 Gaming Plus AC motherboard, and a 650W gold PSU. I'm thinking of either upgrading just my GPU or doing a full system upgrade while keeping the GPU for now. I have enough budget for only one of these right now and plan to tackle the other upgrade later during the holidays. I'm gaming at 1440p and my system runs most games smoothly at 60+ FPS on medium/high settings, which I'm pretty happy with, but I'm always looking for improvements! For my GPU options, I'm considering the 5070 or the 9070 XT, and for a complete upgrade, I might look at the 7800X3D or 9800X3D. I'm leaning towards the 7800 because of the GPU I'll be buying later. I'm also eyeing some new 64GB DDR5 RAM and an ASRock B650M Pro RS motherboard along with an upgraded PSU. Any advice you all have would be greatly appreciated!

You're on the right track leaning towards the 7800X3D. It's still a fantastic CPU, and you'll save quite a bit of cash by sticking with 32-48GB of RAM instead of going for the 64GB. Trust me, that much RAM is really overkill for gaming. If you can wait, the RTX 5070 SUPER might be worth it down the line since the power draw on the 5070 and RX 9070 XT is something to consider, but your PSU should be good!

What’s the power draw like for a 5070? Would a 650W PSU handle it?

I'd say go for the GPU upgrade first. Your 5600X can handle it well without any issues. As for the RAM, 64GB is really excessive for gaming – you won’t notice much difference with a lower amount.

Your setup is already decent, but if you're looking for a serious FPS boost, a new GPU is definitely the way to go. Sure, a full AM5 build is tempting for future-proofing, but I suggest grabbing that 5070 Ti and getting back to gaming!

Are there any compatibility issues I should worry about with my current PSU for the new GPUs?
