Is it okay to leave a SATA data cable plugged into the motherboard without anything connected?

I have a 3060 Ti GPU that fits snugly into my case, blocking some SATA slots and making it tough to remove the SATA data cable after detaching my HDD. The cable is currently sitting inside the case, and I'm wondering if it's fine to leave it there. I've made sure it's not touching any components, but I'm concerned—if it happens to accidentally come into contact with something, is there any risk?

Yeah, it’s completely harmless. Just a heads up though—it might gather some dust over time. An empty case is usually better for airflow, but it's not a big deal.

Absolutely, you can leave it there. I often do when I can't easily access the SATA ports. As long as the connector is plastic, it shouldn't cause any issues. Just tie it up a bit so it's out of the way.

You're good! I did the same thing with mine. It's convenient for when I need to plug in an SSD later. Just make sure to tuck it away nicely, maybe with a twist tie, to avoid any worries about shorting out.

You're totally fine leaving it as is. Just to be safe, you might want to tape it up or secure it somehow so it doesn't accidentally go near a fan if you move your case around.
