Why Do Apps Keep Thinking I’m a Robot?

I've been running into a frustrating problem where multiple apps and sites think I'm a bot, and it's happening on my phone. It's not just one app; I've had issues with Ticketmaster, AXS, Google Chrome, and now Twitter, which even temporarily locked my account until I could prove I'm human. I'm really worried about losing access for good.

I don't use a VPN. The last one I had was ages ago on a different laptop that I don't even own anymore. My phone has 4Voice installed because of work, but I don't think that would classify as a VPN. On my laptop, I have VMWare, which I also need for work, but again, that's not on my phone.

I've noticed that when I'm off my Wi-Fi and using data in incognito mode, I get flagged with more captchas in Chrome. I use incognito to keep my search history clean, but it's becoming a hassle. I live alone, so there's no one else on my Wi-Fi. I cleared the cache on Ticketmaster, but these bot checks are everywhere. What can I do to fix this?

I'm also wondering if someone might have unauthorized access to my Wi-Fi since I had my credit card info stolen earlier today, and that card only existed virtually.

Could also be your router. There’s a chance it got hacked and someone else is using your network, leading to these bot checks. If the credit card was compromised, that could be something to look into.

You bring up a good point. Some networks, especially from mobile ISPs, use CG-NAT, which can cause these bot checks. Your problem could really stem from that. Also, constantly refreshing certain apps like Ticketmaster can sometimes trigger those flags too. Incognito mode isn't helping either; it often raises red flags for many sites.

I was refreshing Ticketmaster a lot because it’s such a buggy app. Maybe that’s part of the problem. Considering switching my internet carrier because everything is so slow, should I?

It’s a bummer you’re dealing with this. Many apps have strict bot detection, and they don’t really disclose how it works, making it tough to pinpoint. But if you’re in a major city and using a common phone like Samsung, that shouldn't be the problem. The network or your behavior online might be causing issues, so watch how you’re using those apps.

It sounds like the issue might be related to CGNAT on your mobile data. It could be that multiple users share the same IP address, which might trigger bot detection on the apps you’re using. When you’re on Wi-Fi, you generally shouldn't have these problems, so that’s really strange.

Yeah, it's weird because I still face issues even on Wi-Fi. Just got locked out of Twitter while connected!
