I recently built a new PC with high expectations, but I'm disappointed because it's lagging and freezing while playing games like HOI4 and CSGO. My specs are pretty decent: I'm using a Gigabyte Radeon RX 7700 XT GPU, an AMD Ryzen 7 9700X CPU, and I have 32GB of Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 RAM. The motherboard is an ASUS PRIME B650-PLUS with a 2000GB Kingston NV3 NVMe SSD. I opted for SharkGaming parts for cooling. Everything was going well with web browsing and idle tasks, but once I start gaming, it becomes a mess. Any tips on how to fix this?

It sounds like you're experiencing input lag and freezing under heavy load. First, check your temperatures while gaming; overheating could cause thermal throttling, leading to lagging issues. Also, make sure your graphics drivers are fully updated. If everything's up to date and temperatures are normal, consider reinstalling the graphics drivers just to eliminate any possibility of corruption. Another thing to explore is the power settings in your system, ensuring you're using the high-performance plan. You mentioned this is an upgrade; sometimes, parts from older systems can cause compatibility issues, so double-check connections too!
If you're having issues primarily with gaming, sometimes it can be related to your power supply or how you've configured your settings. Ensure your PSU is adequate for your setup, and try lowering the graphics settings in those specific games temporarily to see if it improves performance. Also, try running a stress test on your CPU and GPU to identify if either component is causing the issue. Lastly, check for background programs that might be using up resources while you’re gaming.
Have you monitored your CPU and GPU usage during gaming? Sometimes, one component can be bottlenecking your performance. You might want to run a performance monitoring tool like MSI Afterburner to see how things look under load. If there’s a significant difference between idle and gaming performance, it might point to throttling or a resource conflict. Also, just a heads up – make sure your BIOS is updated, as it can help with compatibility and performance too!
Great point! I’ll check the usage and see if there’s any throttling. I’ll also look into updating the BIOS. Thanks!
Thanks for the advice! I’ll check the temperatures and update the drivers to see if that helps. Definitely need to be on a high-performance plan.
