I recently upgraded from a 5800X to a 9800X3D and everything seemed fine at first. I did a 3DMark Timespy benchmark and the temperatures were good—CPU maxing out at 83°C and GPU at 78°C. However, when I launched BF2042, my CPU temperature shot up to 96°C, which got me really worried! I have a 360mm AIO cooler and plenty of case fans to manage airflow. My idle temps are around 40-50°C, so I'm puzzled about the high load temperatures. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

I have a similar setup with the NZXT Kraken Elite 360. Even running max performance, I see spikes to 95°C too. I think it could be caused by aggressive out-of-the-box PBO settings. It's worth asking the community for more tips!
You might want to try remounting your cooler and reapplying thermal paste. Sometimes a bad mounting can lead to spikes like what you're seeing.
The 9800X3D can handle up to 95°C, but you should definitely see lower temps than that with a 360mm AIO. A lot of AIOs don’t run at max speeds right out of the box. I switched my Corsair AIO pump from 'Balanced' to 'High Performance' and it made a huge difference without increasing noise. Check your settings!
