What are some secure open source OCR solutions?

Hey everyone! I'm on the lookout for open source OCR (Optical Character Recognition) tools that prioritize keeping personal identifiable information (PII) secure. A user wants to use OCR for processing their invoices, but I'm worried about protecting sensitive info like account numbers, names, and addresses. If you have any recommendations, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Have you looked into Stirling? It could be a decent option too.

You might want to check out a self-hosted Paperless-ngx setup. It keeps everything in-house, which is great for privacy and security.

thank you, i'd not thought to look for a self hosted solution

Paperless-ngx and docspell are good options to consider. If you’re using SharePoint Online, MS Syntex can also manage OCR securely while abiding by all the privacy standards.

thank you for your suggestions! we just recently upgraded our 365 licenses and are starting to use more features, so I will check out MS Syntex
