How Can I Completely Quit Apple Music on My iPhone?

I'm using an iPhone 16 Pro Max along with my Sennheiser Momentum 4 Bluetooth headphones. These headphones have a feature that allows me to tap them to play or pause music. However, I'm really struggling to completely stop Apple Music from playing. Swiping up to close the app doesn't seem to work; I still end up with music playing from Apple Music, even if I accidentally tap play on my headphones or put them on my head. This is frustrating, especially since I thought this should be an easy feature to manage like on Android. Is there really no way to force quit Apple Music or get out of the last song I played?

I get where you're coming from! Your Sennheiser headphones might have settings to change the default music app, but iOS can be picky with those options. It's possibly a limitation on Apple's end or how your headphones interact with iOS. I totally agree that being able to quit a song easily, like we can on YouTube, should be a standard feature. It’s really annoying that this is a struggle. A lot of people end up getting frustrated with Apple Music too!

I feel you on this! It's like when you swipe up, you think you're closing the app, but it's just sneaky-reopening in the background. That play button on your headphones is designed to always call up the last media app, which makes things messy. Until Apple figures that out, you might have to find workarounds like using a different app or even considering canceling your subscription if it keeps bugging you. Fingers crossed for a fix!

It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating setup! Unfortunately, Apple Music can be pretty stubborn, and the default play behavior seems to be locked in. One option is using Siri to control where your music plays from, but that doesn't help much with your headphones' play button automatically starting Apple Music. Some folks have mentioned deleting the app altogether, which is drastic but could work for you. Just keep in mind that once you delete it, you won't be able to access your playlists through the app. Hope that helps!
