Is My Gaming Build Good Enough or Should I Upgrade?

I'm putting together a gaming PC and here's the setup I've come up with: an MSI GeForce RTX 3050 Ventus 2X OC 6GB video card, an AMD Ryzen 5 5600 with a boost up to 4.4GHz, an MSI B450M-A Pro Max motherboard, 16GB of 3200MHz DDR4 memory, a 500GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD, a 550W MSI MAG A550BN power supply, and an MSI MAG Forge M100A RGB black gaming case. I'm wondering if this setup is decent enough for gaming, or if I should go ahead and upgrade to a 3060 and add a CPU cooler, whether that's a fan or liquid cooling. What do you think?

I've got a 5600X with a 6750XT on a B450 motherboard and I play at 1440p with over 100 fps. The only game that really stresses my setup is Borderlands 4, and I have to use FSR and Framegen to keep my fps decent. So, if you're gaming at high resolutions, a better GPU will definitely help!

Upgrading your GPU is probably the most impactful change you can make. The 3000 series has been around for over five years now, and newer cards like the 5050 and 9060 XT can really outperform even the 3060. If you're looking for better performance, consider going for one of those instead!

Thanks man!

I’m no expert either, but I got an RTX 3060 back in spring 2022 and it has been great! I’ve spent thousands of hours gaming without any issues. It runs well at 1080p and can handle 1440p at lower settings. If you're playing anything less demanding, it should last you quite a while. I'm actually planning to give it to my wife as her starter GPU; it still holds up great!

Thanks for sharing, man!

You definitely need a CPU cooler if you're considering upgrading your GPU. Your setup might run hot, especially during gaming, so make sure you're covered there. That said, what exactly are you looking for in terms of performance?
