Hey everyone! I've just started at a multinational company where the infrastructure is already fully set up and mature. I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed with all the new things I need to learn and the various teams I have to communicate with. On top of that, I'm transitioning from using UNIX terminals (where I've spent most of my time) to working with Windows, which has its own restrictions.
I come from a startup and a mid-sized company background, so adjusting to a more established environment is a bit tough for me. I don't feel very confident right now. I'd love any advice you all might have to help me get through this. Thanks!

Absolutely normal! The DevOps field is huge and can feel complex at first. I transitioned into it from a hobby in kernel tuning and automation, and even I still feel lost sometimes. Remember, it’s a journey and it often involves overcoming imposter syndrome. Don't be too hard on yourself; it's part of the process!
It's totally normal to feel overwhelmed at first! Just take things one day at a time. Keeping notes has really helped me in similar situations. It allows you to track what you learn and refer back to it when needed. You got this!
Definitely normal to feel this way, especially when you're not familiar with the tech stack. Your past experience will be a big advantage as you adjust. If you're working with Windows and PowerShell now, I recommend diving into those tools to ease the transition. I had a similar experience moving from Windows to Linux, where everything was more custom. Just give it some time; you'll find your rhythm!
Starting a new job or a new role will always hit hard at first. Just remember, it's completely natural to feel this way. Embrace the learning curve!
I actually had the opposite experience! I came from big corporations with very defined roles and slow processes, which felt quite laid back. Now I’m in a mid-sized company where the politics and lack of defined roles can be daunting. It’s a different vibe for sure! But hey, there are pros and cons to every side. Just keep pushing through; it gets easier!
