Why is my computer running worse after upgrading to a 2060 Super?

I recently upgraded my GPU from a 1660 Ti to a 2060 Super, paired with my Intel i7-11700. However, I'm experiencing worse performance. Even at the lowest settings, my games are running choppier and I'm getting lower frame rates than before. Does anyone have any idea what might be going wrong?

Just a quick check: did you plug your monitor into the GPU ports or back into the motherboard? If it’s plugged into the motherboard, you could be running off integrated graphics instead.

Have you made sure you have the right drivers installed for the new GPU? That can sometimes affect performance significantly.

Upgrading from a 1660 Ti to a 2060 Super might only give you a modest boost, like 10-15%. However, your experience shouldn't be worse. Are you monitoring your GPU's temperatures and clock speeds? Also, check if you're using the right drivers. It might be thermal throttling or something else going on with your system.

I did download the drivers from NVIDIA during the upgrade. Do you know what thermal throttling is?

It might be a driver issue if you're using the latest NVIDIA drivers. Additionally, check your system's memory settings. I had a similar performance drop when I upgraded until I enabled the XMP profile for my RAM.

I'm not sure if I can adjust the XMP profile on my older motherboard.
