Is it worth selling my broken PC or just parting it out?

I'm considering selling my PC but I'm not sure if it's a good idea or not. I bought it for $900 last September from Facebook Marketplace, but I got scammed. The specs listed were totally inaccurate, and now I'm dealing with several issues. The GPU that was supposed to be a 1080 Ti turns out to be a rusty old 1080 and the cooling system is failing. Recently, the PC shut off while gaming, and now I see glitching lines on my screen which I found out is likely due to the VRAM being damaged. As a cash-strapped university student, I can't afford to replace the GPU, especially since the rest of the components are subpar too. I'm still able to boot it up and get my data, but should I try to sell this off for parts or just scrap the whole idea?

I totally get your frustration! It's rough that you had that bad experience with the PC. Honestly, selling it as is might not be a great plan since you could be passing on your problems to someone else. If you're thinking of selling, maybe look into parting it out instead. A lot of people often look for specific components, and you could make some cash that way without selling it to someone as a fully functioning build.

Yeah, and you can also keep parts that might still have some value to you later! Just be careful with how you list them.
