Which CPU and GPU combo should I choose for 1080p esports gaming?

I'm looking to upgrade my gaming rig after using it since 2019, as my CPU and memory have finally started to fail. I want to stick with the AM4 platform since my motherboard is relatively new. This upgrade will be my last before needing a completely new setup in about 5 years, so I want to maximize performance per dollar spent. My budget for a CPU and GPU combo is around $620, and I'm mainly playing 1080p esports titles like R6: Siege, CS2, Valorant, and League at high framerates (over 200 FPS). I also want to be able to stream and record gameplay in high quality without too much performance loss. Here are the prices for the CPU and GPU options I'm considering: 5700x3D for $265, 5700x for $140 (is it worth it?), RX 6800 for $350, RTX 3080 for $460, and RTX 3070 Ti for $410.

If you ever consider the 3080, I have one for sale at $360 (not including shipping). Just remember, you don’t really need an overly strong GPU for your types of games as they are pretty optimized.

Unfortunately, I'm not in the US, and prices for used GPUs here are pretty steep.

Definitely the X3D chip for 1080p, high-refresh gaming. Check out the performance comparisons on Hardware Unboxed and Gamers Nexus for detailed benchmarks across different games. You'll see just how well it performs against other setups.

I'd say the RX 6800 and the 5700X3D is your best bet. The 10GB VRAM will be decent now, but it might not hold up as well in the next few years, especially for upcoming games that may demand more. But this combo won’t sacrifice anything you need right now.

Totally agree! That's the setup I have, and it's doing great for all my gaming needs.

If you're mostly into esports, go for the 5700X3D with the RX 6800. The 16GB VRAM will really help with performance, especially at your preferred 1080p high refresh rate. Plus, the X3D chip shines in those fast-paced games.

I agree! More VRAM is always better, especially for future-proofing.

For the games you're playing, I'd say definitely get the X3D CPU. It'll help with the 1% lows which are crucial in competitive gaming.

Is the $125 extra for the X3D worth it over the regular 5700X?
