What M365 Licenses Do I Need for Device Management Without Core Apps?

I'm working with a client who wants to keep using Google Workspace for Gmail and Google Docs, but we need to implement device management and conditional access. What Microsoft 365 licenses are necessary to get access to Intune? Also, would we need Entra for this setup? They prefer not to use Business licenses for core applications and feel that E3/E5 is too much for their needs. Any guidance would be appreciated since we haven't configured this before.

Alternatively, you can just purchase Entra P1 and Intune licenses. However, you might find that the Enterprise Mobility + Security E3 bundle could be more cost-effective while providing additional features, like a Windows Server CAL if needed. You can get just an Intune license, which is designed for device management. Here's the link to the pricing details: https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/security/business/microsoft-intune-pricing. However, keep in mind that it won’t include Entra.

You'll want Intune Plan 1 along with Entra ID P1 on a per-user basis. I think that fits your client's needs pretty well.
